LUMS Appoints Dean of Syed Ahsan Ali and Syed Maratib Ali School of Education
Dr. Tayyaba Tamim has been appointed as the Dean of Syed Ahsan Ali and Syed Maratib Ali School of Education (SOE) at LUMS. Her four-year tenure commences on April 1, 2024. Dr. Tamim comes with an outstanding academic background in education, offering a rich blend of expertise and qualifications for this role.
Earning her PhD in Education from the University of Cambridge, UK, as a fully funded Research in Educational Outcomes and Poverty (RECOUP) scholar, Dr. Tamim earlier completed her MPhil as a fully funded British Council Chevening Scholar at the same institution. Her work is dedicated to tackling complex challenges such as: language barriers, gender inequality, caste discrimination, religious biases, and accessibility issues, with a keen focus on their interplay within academia.
Dr Tamim joined SOE as an Associate Professor in its early days in 2018 making significant contributions to its establishment and growth. She has been Director Academics at SOE since 2020 and her leadership has been instrumental in shaping the School's identity. Her impressive track record includes leading numerous research projects funded by USAID, the British Council, and the World Bank.
Furthermore, she has facilitated numerous trainings in professional education for faculty across schools, colleges and universities including trainings for both the Higher Education Commission and the Punjab Higher Education Commission, enhancing the community impact of SOE.
