LUMS to Host the Extraordinary Ahmed Rashid Book Collection
LUMS is proud to receive the Ahmed Rashid Book Collection, a rich and substantial collection that provides deep insights into Afghanistan’s history, politics, and society. The collection includes a wide range of perspectives, from scholarly analyses and historical accounts to personal memoirs and investigative works, making it an invaluable resource for researchers, students, and anyone seeking a deeper understanding of Afghanistan and its role in regional and global affairs.
Mr. Ahmed Rashid, the best-selling foreign policy author of several books on Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Central Asia, including Descent into Chaos and Taliban, has generously donated his entire collection to LUMS. The collection spans Afghanistan’s complex past, covering the Soviet invasion, Mujahideen resistance, the rise of the Taliban, and the impacts of the War on Terror.
A significant portion of the collection also examines global and regional security, terrorism, jihadist movements, and intelligence operations, providing valuable insights into contemporary geopolitical challenges. Complementing these are travel narratives, biographical profiles, and human-rights studies, making the collection a multidimensional resource for researchers, students, and anyone seeking a deeper understanding of Afghanistan.
With this generous donation, LUMS now holds a unique and invaluable collection that will inspire research, learning, and deeper engagement with Afghanistan and its role in the region and the world.
