LUMS Hosts Iftar Dinner in Karachi
LUMS hosted an Iftar Dinner on March 27 in Karachi, bringing together distinguished industry leaders and friends of LUMS, for an evening of meaningful dialogue.
Among the esteemed guests were Mr. Shahid Anwar Tata, CEO, TATA Textile Mills Limited; Mr. Yousaf Hussain, President & CEO Faysal Bank; Mr. Ahmed Ali Bawany, CEO, Faran Sugar Mills; Mr. Farrukh Omar, CEO, Spursol; Syed Jamshed Ahmed, Deputy CEO PharmEvo, Mr. Muhammad Farrukh Rasheed, Chief People Officer, Lucky Core Industries; and Mr. Faisal Iqbal, Head of SME, Meezan Bank Limited.
They were welcomed by Dr. Ali Cheema, Vice Chancellor, LUMS, and Ms. Nuzhat Kamran, Director, Office of Advancement. Dr. Cheema expressed his heartfelt gratitude for their support, acknowledging their crucial role in establishing vital infrastructure and providing scholarships that offer financial assistance for talented students at the university.
Throughout the event, Dr. Cheema shared insightful updates on recent developments and new initiatives at LUMS. He emphasised the university's mission of empowering youth through accessible education, highlighting inspiring stories of the LUMS National Outreach Programme scholars who are driving positive change in their communities.
The discussion revolved around strengthening LUMS as a premier national university, dedicated to transforming knowledge, leadership, and action to tackle Pakistan’s grand challenges and cultivate socially motivated leaders and critical thinkers.
The Iftar dinner also provided an opportunity for engaging dialogue on priority areas of focus and for forging effective partnerships between LUMS and leading corporate entities. These collaborations aim to catalyse innovative breakthroughs for meaningful change in Pakistan.
