In Memoriam: Hidayatullah Buledi (BSc 2015)
It is with profound sorrow that we share the news of the martyrdom of Hidayatullah Buledi, an alumnus of the BSc Class of 2015, who lost his life in a terrorist attack while serving as the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Surab, Balochistan, on Friday, May 30, 2025.
From humble beginnings, Hidayatullah was selected for the National Outreach Program (NOP) at LUMS where he excelled. After graduating, he set out to join the BPSC and give back to his community through honest and dedicated civil service. He rose through the ranks and was recently promoted to Grade 18 as Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC).
But Hidayatullah was more than just a public servant — he was a gentle, soft-spoken soul known among his peers and friends for his humility, warmth, and quiet strength. Despite having many opportunities to pursue a life abroad, he made the conscious decision to stay in Pakistan, driven by a deep commitment to public service and a love for his homeland. A proud son of Balochistan, he devoted his career to improving the lives of its people. Whether through administrative reforms, development work, or simply leading with compassion and integrity, Hidayatullah exemplified the values of leadership. He chose the path of civil service not for recognition, but out of a sincere desire to serve and uplift the most vulnerable.
The LUMS community mourns the loss of one of its own — a patriot, a role model, and a true hero. His life and sacrifice will continue to inspire us all.
Our deepest condolences go out to his family, colleagues, and loved ones during this unimaginable time.
Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un.
Surely we belong to Allah and to Him shall we return.
