LUMS mourns the passing of Syed Johar Gillani (MBA 2009), a distinguished alumnus, Gold Medalist, and accomplished business leader whose career was defined by excellence, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to innovation.
A Gold Medalist in Marketing Management from the LUMS MBA Class of 2009, Johar built an impressive international career spanning banking, strategy, and management consulting. He held senior leadership roles across the financial services sector and advised organisations on digital transformation, business strategy, and organisational growth. His pursuit of lifelong learning also led him to executive education at INSEAD, reflecting his passion for continuous growth and leadership. Throughout his career, Johar was admired for his intellect, professionalism, humility, and generosity in mentoring others.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Johar will be remembered for his warmth, kindness, and enduring connection to the LUMS community. His legacy lives on through the colleagues, classmates, friends, and young professionals whose lives he enriched through his guidance, compassion, and example.
