Nimir Group Supports the National Outreach Programme at LUMS
Nimir Group has committed to sponsoring a National Outreach Programme (NOP) scholar at LUMS. The Group’s partnership with LUMS was formalised at an MoU signing ceremony on December 13, 2023, where Dr. Tariq Jadoon, Acting Vice Chancellor and Provost, LUMS, and Mr. Zafar Mahmood, CEO, Nimir Group, signed the agreement.
Directors, Nimir Group, Mr. Khalid Mumtaz Qazi, Mr. Imran Afzal, Mr. Umar Iqbal, Mr. Aamir Jameel, Mr. Waqas Ahmed Rana, and Manager Innovations and Projects, Mr. Moaz Mahmood were also present at the ceremony. Representing LUMS were Dr. Nauman Zaffar, Project Director National Incubation Centre Lahore; Dr. Basit Yameen, Associate Professor, and Ms. Nuzhat Kamran, Director, Office of Advancement.
Established in 1964, Nimir is a leading partner for providing third-party manufacturing services in personal and home care products. Its product portfolio includes a large range of oleo chemicals, chlor alkali, coatings, emulsions, polyester, textile chemicals, paper chemicals, construction chemicals, application services, aerosols, personal and home care products, and alternate energy solutions.
Ms. Kamran apprised the delegation about LUMS and the strategic developments underway, and also shared an overview of the University’s flagship National Outreach Programme (NOP). She talked about the multiplier effect of the NOP and how each contribution goes a long way in making a difference.
Initiated in 2001, the NOP furthers the University’s longstanding vision of providing premium education to talented students across the country, regardless of their financial circumstances. The Programme has won the global Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) Platinum Award 2021 in the ‘Best Practices in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion’ category. The CASE Platinum Awards recognise world-class programmes and practices in educational advancement.
Dr. Jadoon appreciated Nimir Group’s support for the NOP and highlighted that it is due to the philanthropy and generosity of such industry partners that the University continues to provide access to higher education to talented students in Pakistan. “Thank you for your generous support of the National Outreach Programme, which not only transforms the lives of scholars but also those of their families and communities. We also look forward to exploring future collaborations in areas of shared interest,” he said.
Mr. Mahmood shared his thoughts on the partnership and said, “We believe in giving back to the community and providing opportunities to others. Recognising the transformative impact of the National Outreach Programme, we wanted to play our part in making a difference in the lives of talented students. It is an honour for us to join hands with LUMS in this remarkable initiative and we look forward to expanding this scholarship in the future.”
