Olympia Group Partners with LUMS to Support NOP Scholars
Olympia Welfare Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the Olympia Group has extended its support to LUMS by signing an agreement to establish the Monnoo Scholarship Fund. The fund will support the National Outreach Programme (NOP) at LUMS. The partnership was formalised at an MoU signing ceremony on August 9, 2024, between Mr. Muhammad Shakil Monnoo, Chairman and CEO, Olympia Chemicals Limited and Dr. Ali Cheema, Vice Chancellor, LUMS.
Also present from Olympia Group were Mr. Ghulam Mustafa Monnoo, CEO, Olympia Welfare Foundation; Mr. Abdul Rahman Monnoo, Director, Olympia Chemicals Limited; Mr. Syed Ali Raza, Legal Advisor; Mr. Muhammad Awab Chohan, Consultant; Ms. Fayyaz Akhter, Principal, Olympia Model School; Mr. Imran Amir, HR Manager; and Mr. Muhammad Faisal Yaqub, Senior Executive. They were welcomed by Ms. Nuzhat Kamran, Director, and Mr. Anas Ashraf, Head of Development, Office of Advancement at LUMS.
Ms. Kamran provided an overview of several key initiatives at LUMS through a brief presentation, highlighting recent strategic developments and the University's financial support programmes. She elaborated on the National Outreach Programme (NOP), launched in 2001, which aligns with the University’s vision of offering premium education to talented students nationwide, regardless of their financial circumstances. The NOP won the prestigious Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) Platinum Award 2021 for ‘Best Practices in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion’, a recognition of excellence in educational advancement worldwide.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Cheema expressed his deep appreciation for Olympia Group's commitment to the NOP, emphasising the transformative role that education plays in shaping the future of young minds in Pakistan. He stated, “We believe that anyone who has talent should never lack opportunities. We are committed to doing our part as much as possible.”
