A Transformational Learning Experience - REDC's Management Development Programme 2021
The Rausing Executive Development Centre (REDC) at LUMS conducted its Management Development Programme (MDP) from November 1 – 12, 2021, for a diverse group of senior executives. This flagship programme attracts leaders from across the corporate sector and helps them transition to strategic management positions within their organisations.
Recognised as a transformational experience, the two-week residential programme gives its participants insight into different corporate functions, enabling them to expand their knowledge related to digital ecosystems, competitive strategy, strategic finance, leadership, innovation and global value chains.
The extended stay offers them an opportunity to step back from their work commitments, rejuvenate core management acumen and acquire a competitive edge in today’s innovative world. Salman Najeeb, Financial Controller at International Industries Limited, and a programme participant shares, “It was a good break from work routine to step back and analyse the fundamentals of your company against best practices and theories. It teaches you to respect and serve all around you with the same passion and an enhanced understanding of their function.”
Directed by Dr. Jamshed Hassan Khan and Dr. Muhammad Adeel Zaffar, the programme creates a uniquely immersive learning experience for its participants, enabling them to integrate key functional areas of the organisation to drive a result-focused business strategy.
Asadullah Saleem, General Manager, Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund, shared his positive experience and says, “The entire programme is very interactive and based on real-life learning through case studies. MDP helps you zoom out to look at the bigger picture.”
During the 12-day engagement, programme participants experience learning through a mix of interactive case discussions, exercises, simulations, group work and industry experts panel discussions. It emphasises the need to embrace changing business realities and develop new skills necessary to sustain the workflow during challenging times.
Hassan Raza, Senior Manager Production at Indus Motors Company Limited, also shares his feedback and notes, “It was a great experience meeting with leaders of different organisations and having their insights, learning their work culture and their way of dealing with matters. The programme is highly recommended for those who want to lead their organisations.”
A unique feature of the MDP is peer-to-peer learning, which is supplemented by in-depth interaction with LUMS faculty and experienced industry leaders. MDP offers an opportunity for individuals who are required to manage multiple functional areas in an integrated manner and drive organisational growth.
