International Petrochemicals (Pvt.) Limited Pledges to Support Student Scholarships at LUMS
International Petrochemicals (Pvt.) Limited (IPC) has signed an agreement to support the National Outreach Programme (NOP) at LUMS. A ceremony was held on Monday, November 6, 2023, where Dr. Tariq Jadoon, Acting Vice Chancellor, and Provost, LUMS, and Mr. Faraz Ahmed, Director IPC and LUMS Alumnus (BS, 2018), signed the agreement.
Founded in 1978, IPC has established itself as a global supplier of petrochemical raw materials with state-of-the-art production plants and storage facilities and has grown into a global network in strategic business centers worldwide. IPC services clients throughout Pakistan in diverse sectors like rubber and tyres, paint, plastic resins, lubricants, solvents, and industrial chemicals.
Mr. Ahmed was joined at the event by Mr. Asad Cheema, Director IPC, and Ms. Rabia Ahmed. Also present at the event were Ms. Nuzhat Kamran, Director, Office of Advancement, and Mr. Anas Ashraf Ali, Head of Development, Office of Advancement.
To provide a holistic overview of the several initiatives at LUMS, Ms. Kamran gave a brief presentation and apprised the guests about strategic developments at LUMS, and its flagship NOP. Initiated in 2001, the NOP furthers the University’s longstanding vision of providing premium education to talented students across the country, regardless of their financial circumstances. The Programme has won the global Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) Platinum Award 2021 in the ‘Best Practices in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion’ category.
Dr. Jadoon lauded IPC’s support towards the NOP. “Thank you for your thoughtfulness and compassion for this effort, and for your generous support,” he said.
Mr. Ahmed spoke about the motivation towards giving to LUMS. “As proud alumni, we are eager to play a small part in furthering the mission of LUMS,” he said. “Contributing to LUMS is a privilege, and we are grateful for the opportunity to play any role that we can. This marks a promising beginning, and we are determined to expand scholarship opportunities in the years ahead. Having personally witnessed the profound transformative influence of LUMS and the NOP, we understand the significant impact it has on families and entire communities.”
Mr. Cheema added, “We believe that anyone who has talent, should never lack the opportunity. We are committed to doing our part as much as possible. This is the need of the hour, and we aim to contribute meaningfully to this vital effort. It's a commendable initiative for alumni.”
