Tajir Virtual Campus Drive 2021
Tajir conducted its campus drive on Wednesday February 3, 2021 via Zoom for the BS and MS Computer Science students graduating in 2021.
Mr. Ismail Khan, Chief Technical Officer at Tajir, initiated the session by providing a history of the company. He stated that he was inspired by his father, who has been in the wholesale business since the past 30 years. After completing his education, Mr. Khan and his brother started Tajir to follow in the footsteps of their father and take it to the next level.
He told the audience that the wholesale market in Pakistan is around $150 billion and only 10% of it is structured. There are thousands of kiryana stores that are conducting unstructured businesses, so to capture this major chunk they have introduced an app 'Tajir- marketplace' for kiryana stores, where they can buy inventory that is available 24/7. The whole sellers and retailers can register on the app and place an order, which will be delivered to their doorstep within 24 hours. The users can also view recent prices of commodities.
Essentially, it offers a one-stop shop for buying inventory, as it has the largest selection of commodities, next day delivery through Tajir Express and prices are updated in real time which is cost-saving for their customer. Furthermore, they are providing services in Lahore and soon will also be starting operations in other cities.
Mr. Khan stated that they are seeking candidates who are humble, have the desire to learn and grow, can take complete ownership of their work, and can solve diverse and challenging technology problems which have an impact in Pakistan in terms of increasing revenues of tens of thousands of retailers.
At the end of the session, Mr. Khan shared the details of the application process with students. The drive was then concluded with an interactive Questions and Answers session.
