In Memoriam: Tariq Sajid Sheikh
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Tariq Sajid Sheikh (EMBA 2004), a distinguished alumnus of LUMS, a brilliant engineer, and a deeply respected professional whose life was defined by integrity and leadership.
Tariq was an Electrical Engineering graduate of UET Lahore and went on to pursue an Executive MBA at LUMS, where he earned the gold medal and served as valedictorian of his class, an achievement that reflected not only his academic brilliance but also his commitment to learning and personal growth.
Over the course of a remarkable career spanning more than two decades, Tariq held pivotal leadership roles, most notably during his 12-year tenure at General Electric (GE) Middle East in Dubai. There, he rose to the position of Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Projects, overseeing infrastructure portfolios exceeding $7 billion across the Gulf region. His work left a lasting impact on the region’s energy and industrial sectors.
In Pakistan, he made significant contributions to the oil, gas, and chemical industries, known for his deep technical insight, strategic acumen, and unwavering professionalism. His colleagues admired his ability to lead with both strength and humility.
Beyond his accomplishments, Tariq will be remembered for his warmth and kindness. He was a mentor, a family man, and a friend whose generosity of spirit touched many lives.
He leaves behind a family, friends, and a professional community who will continue to cherish his memory and strive to uphold the values he embodied. May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may his loved ones find strength and solace in this time of loss.
