LUMS and Afiniti Explore AI-Driven Opportunities for Innovation and Collaboration

On March 19, 2025, LUMS welcomed a delegation from Afiniti Inc., a global leader in AI-driven solutions, for an insightful discussion on the transformative role of artificial intelligence (AI) and technology in shaping the future. The delegation included Mr. Jerome Vaughan Kapelus, CEO; Mr. Wesley Howard Fink, CFO; Mr. Fakhar Ejaz, Senior Vice President, Global HR; and Mr. Osman Asghar Khan, MD & GM, Afiniti Pakistan.
The meeting brought together Afiniti’s global leadership and LUMS leadership, including Dr. Ali Cheema, Vice Chancellor; Dr. Tariq Jadoon, Provost; and faculty members from the Syed Babar Ali School of Science and Engineering, including Dr. Agha Ali Raza, Associate Professor of Computer Science, and Dr. Muhammad Hamad Alizai, Chair of the Computer Science Department and Director of LUMS Learning Institute. The discussion focused on exploring how AI can drive meaningful changes and create opportunities for the next generation of innovators.
Dr. Cheema expressed his enthusiasm about the transformative potential of technology, saying, “We are always excited to integrate technology in ways that enhance our capacities. LUMS has produced the highest number of Fulbright scholars, with our students securing placements at top global institutions—this is the true impact of LUMS. Collaborations in AI will be invaluable, as we have a pool of talented graduates eager to learn and push boundaries.”
Dr. Raza emphasised LUMS’ dedication to integrating emerging technologies into academia and preparing students to tackle complex real-world challenges. He shared, “Students from LUMS have received remarkable scholarships, reflecting their potential and hard work. Our faculty is committed to addressing complex problems and developing solutions tailored to local needs. In today’s world, technology is at the forefront, and we must continue to innovate and evolve.”
