CEO, Lake City Holdings Reaffirms Commitment Towards Funding Talented Students at LUMS
Entrepreneur, philanthropist, and CEO, Lake City Holdings, Dr. Gohar Ejaz, visited LUMS on October 13, 2023. A longtime advocate and champion for accessible education, Dr. Ejaz has supported the National Outreach Programme (NOP) at LUMS since 2017. During the visit, he met with the University’s senior leadership and engaged with the beneficiaries of the Gohar Ejaz Scholarship Fund.
After a warm welcome by Dr. Tariq Jadoon, Acting Vice Chancellor and Provost, and Ms. Nuzhat Kamran, Director, Office of Advancement, Dr. Ejaz took part in an interactive session with students who have directly benefitted from his generosity. The scholarship recipients appreciated his passion for creating opportunities in education and making them attainable for students.
One student noted, “This scholarship changed my life as it was a 360 degree turn for me. If I look at who I was before coming to LUMS, and I look at who I am now, there is a huge difference. It has changed the way I think, and I want to thank you for that.”
Another recipient added, “If I reflect on my journey at LUMS, on my first day, I was very hesitant to even ask a question from the instructors. In my last semester, I was a Teaching Assistant for a course. The journey is massive, and all of this is because of you.”
Dr. Ejaz shared that he started the Fund to help students maximise their potential. “You all are making me proud. There is a lot of potential in Pakistan, and education has the power to change our future. I have no doubt that you and the future generations will work to change the lives of the people in this country. I will always be there for you, and you will always have my support,” he said.
He also reaffirmed his commitment to funding students at LUMS. Dr. Jadoon extended his thanks to Dr. Ejaz for his generosity and time. “Scholarships are an enabler for students to pursue education, and that is what will help us all uplift families, communities, and the country.”
