LUMS Team Explores Collaboration Prospects with Gujrat Business Community
A delegation from the Office of Advancement, LUMS, led by the Director, Ms. Nuzhat Kamran, visited Gujrat on March 14, 2024.
An iftar dinner, generously hosted by Mr. Nabeel Ilyas (MBA 2006), COO, GFC Fans provided the LUMS delegation with a networking opportunity to interact with prominent members of the Gujrat community. As one of the largest manufacturers of quality electric fans in Pakistan, GFC Fans has been exporting its products annually to over 30 countries globally. It is a proud partner with LUMS in sponsoring the education of talented National Outreach Programme (NOP) scholars.
Initiated in 2001, the NOP furthers the University’s longstanding vision of providing premium education to talented students across the country, regardless of their financial circumstances. The Programme won the global Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) Platinum Award 2021 in the ‘Best Practices in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion’ category. The CASE Platinum Awards recognise world-class programmes and practices in educational advancement.
Among the distinguished guests were Mr. Muhammad Ijaz, Director, GFC Fans; Mr. Muhammad Ilyas, Chairman, GFC Fans; Chaudhry Azhar Hussain, CEO Nayyar Industries; Mr. Khawar Rafique, CEO Royal Fans; Mr. Shafiq, CEO Brighto Fans; and other members of the Gujrat business community.
To provide a comprehensive perspective of the many initiatives at LUMS, Ms. Kamran gave a brief presentation and highlighted key facts about the University. She spoke about the impact of NOP, and emphasised how it extends beyond the students to their families and communities. She added that these scholars strive to achieve academic excellence against all odds and the transformation they undergo after joining LUMS, launches them on a trajectory of success and excellence.
During the visit, LUMS representatives introduced the University's initiatives and discussed potential collaboration avenues with the attendees. The response was overwhelmingly positive, with members expressing keen interest in supporting the NOP scholars, a sentiment that was highly encouraging.
